This is a hybrid Theory IV class, with one in-person meeting each week. Students are required to do readings and watch videos for the remainder of the week. Supplemental readings and materials are drawn mostly from Straus’ “Intro to Post Tonal Theory” and “The Art of Post-Tonal Analysis.” Videos are drawn from various YouTube channels. If I were to teach this course again, I would recommend starting with referential collections and skip the Aug6, Neapolitan, and chromatic mediant units, as this is already covered in Theory III at Lehman.
