Music: Its Language, History, and Culture | Final Project | Brooklyn College | Spring 2023

This final project focuses on sound studies and soundscapes. I like to tie in Pierre Bourdieu’s Habitus in order for them to make connections to the ways their own soundscapes are affected by societal and systematic issues. Students are encouraged to record 7-10 minutes worth of sound of their choosing. The goal is to understand the dynamics of sound (how sight is often prioritized), connections to Habitus and their soundscapes, and inspire creativity in the creation of album artwork to their soundscape.
